Lemosho Route

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed and transferred to Londorossi Gate. After completing the park registration, you'll be driven to the Lemosho trailhead. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest to your first camp at Mti Mkubwa. Enjoy a hearty dinner and settle in for the night.

After a nutritious breakfast, start your trek from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp. This day's hike takes you through the rainforest and onto the Shira Plateau. Experience the stunning scenery and panoramic views as you ascend. The trail gradually steepens as you emerge from the rainforest into the heath and moorland zone.

Continue your trek from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp. The hike involves a gradual ascent across the Shira Plateau, offering spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. The terrain becomes more rugged as you cross the Shira Plateau, with volcanic rock formations and unique alpine vegetation. This day is crucial for acclimatization as you'll gain altitude gradually.

Depart Shira 2 Camp and head towards Barranco Camp, located in the Barranco Valley. This day's trek takes you through varied terrain, including the challenging Barranco Wall. You'll first ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch, which is excellent for acclimatization, before descending to Barranco Camp. The descent helps your body adjust to the altitude while you enjoy spectacular views of the Western Breach and the Barranco Valley.

After breakfast, trek from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp. The day starts with climbing the famous Barranco Wall, which looks more intimidating than it is - your guides will help you navigate the scramble. After conquering the wall, enjoy panoramic views of the southern glacier before descending into the Karanga Valley. The day involves significant elevation changes that are excellent for acclimatization. Arrive at Karanga Camp in the afternoon for dinner and rest.

Start your trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, located on the high-altitude desert. The day involves a steady but steep ascent through barren, rocky terrain. Barafu means 'ice' in Swahili, and the camp is located on a rocky, exposed ridge. You'll arrive by early afternoon, giving you time to rest and prepare for your summit attempt. After an early dinner, try to get some sleep before your midnight wake-up call for the summit push.

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, climbing through the night to reach Stella Point (5,739m) at dawn. The final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) is challenging but incredibly rewarding as you witness the sunrise over Africa. Celebrate your achievement at the highest point in Africa before beginning the descent to Barafu Camp for a short rest. After lunch, continue descending to Mweka Camp through the alpine desert and into the moorland zone.

After breakfast, make your final descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. At the gate, you'll receive your summit certificates (gold for those who reached Uhuru Peak, silver for Stella Point). Enjoy a celebratory lunch before being transferred back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for a well-deserved hot shower and celebration dinner. Take time to reflect on your incredible achievement of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.
